10° ANNIVERSARY
EUROCHOCOLATE PERUGIA 18th - 26th OCTOBER 2003
Why
is there no such organization as Chocoholics Anonymous? Because no one wants
to quit! Simple but true: chocolate is one of the sweetest passions blinding
human beings all over the world....In Italy, Chocolate Passion has just one
name: Eurochocolate, the most famous Chocolate Festival throughout the country,
that next October (from 18th till 26th) will celebrate its tenth anniversary!
Perugia, the beautiful Umbrian medieval town, is the fortunate site of the
Festival, which was born in 1993 and over the past nine years has brought to
the city millions of happy chocoholics, foreign tourists and curious visitors,
many of them returning year after year to enjoy the event. That's because only
Eurochocolate means a week of totally guilt-free chocolate indulgence, where
festivities include entertainment, art expositions, short movie festivals, conventions,
chocolate schools and over 130 chocolate booths each one presenting many assorted
types of the finest chocolate.
In order to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Eurochocolate 2003 will present
the greatest festival dedicated to the Chocolate Passion ever existing. The
hundreds of thousands of chocoholics coming to Perugia will
find neverending ways to enjoy their love for Theobroma Cacao in association
with the numerous other passions of their everyday life: from biking to reading,
from fashion to arts, from football to sailing, from gambling on the Stock Exchange
to travelling by caravan. All this culminating in the strongest passion ever
existing: love. As a matter of fact, Eurochocolate will hold the first Chocolate
Marriage on earth. The date of this extraordinary happening is fixed for Sunday
19th October 2003, a day that no doubt will not be forgotten for a long time
by both the Italian and Foreign media.
Eurochocolate's 10th anniversary will also be remembered for the resounding
success of the Chococircus (18-26 October), the first Circus dedicated to Chocolate
offering a unique dainty novelty: a traditional circus show enriched by the
presence of the best chocolatemakers creating live cacao craft works and giving
out free chocolate to the audience.
Nevertheless during Eurochocolate all the traditional appointments that made
the fortune of the festival throughout the years will be held: from the Master
of Chocolate (24-26 October), the only exclusive course to get a degree in Theobroma
Cacao, to the Chocolate Sculptures (19 October), the sweet tasting art works
that will make your mouth water....
In addition to all these interesting and pleasing activities, on Saturday 18th
October "Chocolate, Male or Female?" will take place, an important
congress that will be attended by authoritative linguistics, well known anthropologists
and numerous experts searching to find an answer to this historical dilemma.
Actually Eurochocolate does not mean just entertainment and mere fun, but is
an opportunity to enrich one's knowledge about chocolate, learning a lot of
useful information about its nutritional aspects, its history and its production.
That is why we are proud to affirm that through the past ten years Eurochocolate
has been a great contributor to the growth of chocolate culture in Italy.
